Yasmin Salim – Accredited Psychotherapist
With over a decade of dedicated service in the mental health field, I have built an illustrious career as a qualified and registered counsellor, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner. Driven by a passion for helping individuals heal from emotional wounds, I have cultivated a wide-ranging skill set that includes working with diverse populations across multiple therapeutic settings. Through individualised therapy sessions, group facilitation, private practice, and multi-agency collaborations, I have consistently demonstrated the ability to deliver transformative change in the lives of both young people and adults.
Rooted in evidence-based practice, I take a trauma-informed approach to therapy. Specialising in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and complex trauma, I am highly regarded for creating a safe, trusting environment where clients feel empowered to explore their emotions and rebuild their lives. I am often asked “how did you get into therapy?”
My journey into the world of mental health began in 2009, when I made a pivotal decision to leave behind a career in hospitality in search of something more meaningful. Feeling a strong pull to help others, I began volunteering as a telephone counsellor for Childline. It was a transformative experience that opened my eyes to the power of listening and the profound impact of simply being there for someone in need.
Since then I have spent over a decade as a dedicated counsellor, CBT, EMDR practitioner, driven by a passion to help individuals heal from emotional challenges. My work spans across diverse populations and therapeutic settings, focusing on evidence-based, trauma-informed practices. I specialise in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and complex trauma, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe, trusting environment where clients feel empowered to explore their emotions and rebuild their lives.
Philosophy and Therapeutic Approach
At the heart of my practice is a deep belief in the potential for personal growth and healing. This philosophy underpins every therapeutic interaction, whether with a young person battling depression, or an adult reprocessing childhood trauma through EMDR.
I employ a person-centred approach, always striving to create an environment of safety and trust. The therapeutic relationship is seen as a collaborative partnership, where the client plays an active role in their healing journey. Empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental support are cornerstones of my therapeutic style, ensuring that clients feel heard and validated.
Evidence-based practice forms the backbone of my approach. With extensive training in CBT and EMDR, I consistently draw on well-researched, effective techniques to support client progress. This commitment to evidence-based care is further reflected in my regular use of psychometric tools and outcome measures to track client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
However, my approach is not rigidly confined to specific modalities. In practice, I remain adaptable, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. For some, brief, solution-focused therapy may be most effective; for others, long-term therapy that delves deeply into past experiences and emotional patterns may be required. In all cases, I remain responsive to the individual, ensuring that therapy is always aligned with the client’s goals and emotional readiness.

As a licensed Nurse with six years of experience in the NHS and a trainee accredited life coach, my mission is to empower individuals to realise their full potential by addressing various aspects of their well-being.
My expertise encompasses a range of areas, including weight management, fitness, nutrition optimisation, stress reduction, mental wellness promotion, and overall lifestyle refinement. Leveraging my nursing background, I provide guidance and support to individuals navigating newly diagnosed conditions, facilitating their transition towards leading fulfilling and normalised lives.
As a health and wellness coach I aim to focus on the whole person, considering physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being, I aim to support clients in leading healthier, more fulfilling lives.
